Biotechnology at Springfield Technical Community College -- The STCC Biotechnology program offers intensive training for a career in biotechnology and high quality preparation for transfer to a four-year institution. STCC offers both associates’ degrees and a certificate program with curriculum designed in concert with academic partners and local industry. The Biotechnology program’s curriculum emphasizes hands-on training in current biotechniques and preparation for working in the biotechnology industry. STCC was chosen as a BioTeach Regional Training Center in 2006, serving western Massachusetts and the Berkshires as a biotechnology training resource for secondary educators. STCC has hosted 3 professional development workshops for over 50 local high school biology teachers to help them use engaging biotech curricula to bring knowledge and enthusiasm for biotechnology to high school students. STCC is well prepared to support the future development of the growing biotechnology industry in the Pioneer Valley as a leader in providing innovative and flexible biotechnology curriculum.
