X-rays and Rainbows: An Exploration into the World of Light and Color for 9th Grade Students -- A week-long summer science program designed to introduce rising 9th graders to some of the fundamentals of science through explorations into the topics of light and color. Many exciting hands-on activities were included in the labs (such as extracting dyes from M&Ms, building solar cars and spectrophotometers, creating fluorescent glowsticks and slime, conducting flame tests, investigating ultraviolet light from the sun, x-rays, infrared waves, and microwaves). In addition, the students enjoyed a full-day fieldtrip to the Boston Museum of Science. On Friday, the students presented their learning to their families, friends, and invited guests.
