Engineering Pathways Mapping Project -- PV STEMNET is preparing a guide of pathways to engineering and technical careers in the Valley. It will help parents, guidance counselors, students and teachers -- and especially women and other underrepresented in STEM careers -- to understand and make informed choices about available opportunities.
Career Fairs -- Three career fairs were held for high school and middle school students in the Pioneer Valley. The Engineering Pathways Career Fairs were organized by the Tri-County Tech Prep Consortium, Tech Prep 21, and the UMass College of Engineering.
Activities for K-12 Students
Explorations in Science and Engineering -- Western New England College offered a program of six Saturday presentations for middle and high school students in Springfield. Topics included math, the sciences, and mechanical, electrical and bio- engineering.
Summer Enrichment Activities -- PV STEMNET coordinated summer activities for middle and high school students at Smith College, Springfield College, and Greenfield Community College. Students learned about engineering and technical fields through hands-on experiences with scientists and engineers.
Activities for K-12 Teachers
Summer Content and Pedagogy Institutes for Teachers -- Three workshops were offered to K-12 teachers at Westfield State College, Smith College, and UMass Amherst College of Engineering (CEE WORLD). They focused on teaching engineering at the middle and high school levels.
