In this presentation we will share some calculator activities that we
have utilized in our mathematics classes. The
Texas Instruments Computer Algebra Systems (TI-89, TI-92 Plus), the
Calculator
Based Laboratory (CBL), and Calculator Based Ranger (CBR) are featured.
The mathematical topics will include Newton’s law of cooling and
logistic growth. The “spirit”
of the presentation will incorporate the theme of “developing a feel for
mathematics” a la Dr. John Berry, Director of the Centre for Teaching
Mathematics, University of Plymouth, UK.
