Student Seeking a Teaching Experience

WHEN:

Present to June 30 , 2001

WHERE:

No specific preference to town/school district/college

AD:

Hello! I am a student at UMASS and a teaching scholar at STEMTEC. I am looking for a teaching experience, so that I can practice my teaching skills! I am very interested in teaching any mathematics course up to Pre-Calculus. I can either assist a teacher with a class, or I can tutor a student (who needs help) from a math class.

I could learn to teach a science course, but I feel more confident in teaching a math course because I have had experience with teaching students math in the past. When I was a student at Springfield Technical Community College (I graduated from STCC last June and started at UMASS last September), I both tutored some students in math and assisted one of my former math professors with her Algebra I class. It was really FUN! :-)

I am very flexible with my schedule, and am willing to work out any issues that might arise. THANKS!

ADVERTISEMENT:

The Smith College Physics and Chemistry Departments are interested in hosting 40-50 seventh or eighth graders on campus for science activites and demonstrations. We were hoping that this could happen on March 30 or April 6 in the afternoon for 3-4 hours.

We are also interested in visiting schools if transportation to Smith is too difficult. Please call or email Corin Tierney if you are interested in working with us on this project.

COMMENTS I am an ambitious student graduating from GCC this spring (2002).
ADVERTISEMENT I plan to continue on through doctorate level, studying general sciences, enviornmental design and psychology on the way. My plan is to teach at university level someday. At age 33, I am an exemplary student, and would love to find any assistant teaching positions in the five college area. I am willing to assist in math (through pre-calculus), science or psychology in grades 6-12, or introductory courses at the university level. I have a certain amount of flexibility in days and times I am available. I have been instructing in martial arts for over 6 years, and have found that teaching is a great love of mine. Please give a call or email me if you are interested in discussing an opportunity with me.
