STEMTEC Announces

New Faculty Fellows for the Eight College Consortium

STEMTEC, the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Teacher Education Collaborative, is pleased to announce the selection of the 2001 Faculty Fellows. These distinguished individuals are in the early stages of their careers and wish to investigate the scholarship and practice of teaching. The awardees are from the following members of the STEMTEC collaborative: UMass, Hampshire, Smith, Greenfield Community College, Holyoke Community College, and Springfield Technical Community College. The fellows will receive a stipend of $2500 to implement the use of active-learning methods in first- or second-year courses. Preference was given to faculty involved in the teaching of courses that impact large numbers of students, especially those classes of interest to potential K12 teachers.

UMass-Extension: Kim Anderson and Ljiljana Curcija

Hampshire College: Elizabeth Conlisk and Jaime Davila

Smith College: L. David Smith

Greenfield Community College: Jennifer L. Burrill, James Knapp, and Judith Maggiore

Holyoke Community College: Ileana Vasu

Springfield Technical Community College: Julianne Kinsman
