- Engineering Career Orientation: Minority Engineering Program. ECO is a two-to-four-week summer residential program for high school minority students with the main objective of informing and introducing students to the excitement and possibilities of pursuing an engineering career. Program participants are selected on the basis of their PSAT and SAT scores, high school grades, recommendation letters and expressed fields of interest.
- Minority Engineering Freshman Orientation: MEFO is a two-to-six-week summer program that runs prior to the start of classes in the Fall Semester. Participants of this program are incoming minority freshmen engineering students at UMass. During this program, participants are housed in a residence hall. Courses in math, English, and computer projects are conducted to renew the students' knowledge within the course and to alert the MEP staff advisor of possible student academic need(s). Students are required to work together in study groups and on a group project in order to cultivate the feeling of working together as a team and helping one another to a final or similar goal.
